Meredith Salenger

Salenger grew and was raised in Malibu. In her early years, she enjoyed performing in front of her friends and family. As young as eight she was taken by her mother to her very first class in acting. In John Huston's film Annie the actress played an unimportant role, in which she was called an "singing and dance orphan". Salenger was also featured in some commercials on television. Salenger played her first lead role for the lead role in The Journey of Natty Gann, which was a Disney movie that starred John Cusack with Ray Wise. The film was the first US film to win the Gold Award at the Moscow Film Festival. In addition, she won "Best Female Actress in a drama" at the Youth in Film Awards in the recognition of her character as the tomboyish Natty. After appearing in four other films before she was just 18 and also in A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon after which she left Hollywood in order to attend Harvard to further her education.
